PROJECT LAUNCH EVENT
The SAFEPOWER project kick-off meeting with the participation of all the project partners took place on 24 and 25 October 2024 in Barcelona. The objective of the project is to deploy next-generation DC medium-voltage converters, which are more efficient than current AC converters and crucial for integrating renewable energy sources. The key components of the project include:
- a study of innovative Condition and Health Monitoring (C&HM) solutions, both online and offline, using artificial intelligence (AI) to predict and prevent distribution outages; and
- an investigation into more efficient silicon carbide and gallium oxide devices to propose new architectures or converter designs utilizing these technologies.
By improving the safety, reliability, resilience, and affordability of converters, we aim to create a more efficient power grid.
