FLAGCHIP addresses the growing demand for reliable and efficient power converters by pushing innovation in three key areas:
- Power Modules โ with novel device and package-level designs;
- Condition and Health Monitoring (C&HM) โ for predictive maintenance and reduced downtime;
- Cost Efficiency โ ensuring affordable, scalable solutions for various applications.
The project focuses on validating wide bandgap (WBG) and ultra-wide bandgap (UWBG) semiconductor technologies and integrating them into compact, cost-effective power modules. Over the course of the project, the FLAGCHIP will develop and test 13 innovations, including predictive maintenance strategies. Learn more

MoWiLife explores the integration of Wide Bandgap (WBG) power electronics with advanced condition and health monitoring concepts across key technical systems for renewable energy generation and distribution.
The project features four WBG pilot applications, including two wind power converters, a HVDC circuit breaker, and a medium-voltage DC-DC converter for solar energy.
In addition, an Ultra-Wide Bandgap (diamond) technology demonstrator will showcase a significant advancement in power electronics. These pilots utilise SiC MOSFET modules with temperature-sensitive parameters, enabling continuous condition and health monitoring to enhance reliability and efficiency. Learn more
